Federation Software
For Foodshelf Providers

Do you run a run a foodshelf? Looking for an easier way to track clients and run reports? Federation software was built from the ground up to meet the needs of foodshelves and other social service providers. The typical configuration for foodshelves includes these modules:

  • Base system. The essential contact management, list building, and communication functions. Click here for details.
  • Program Management: Set up programs and services exactly the way you need.
  • Client Management. Track services you provide to clients, fast and flexibly.

Short on cash to buy software? Good news! Federation costs only $37 per month for a typical foodshelf configuration. No up front costs and no long term commitment means you can start using the system immediately, and evaluate if meets all of your needs.

Tracking Your Clients

A universal intake sheet. Ensures data quality and aggregatability, yet customizable for each program and service. Supports individual and group assists. Click here to view a sample and learn more.

Shelf usage enforcement. Instantly know if today’s client has been here before, including when and how often. Lets you enforce your own rules about foodshelf utilization.

Demographic snapshotting. At the point of intake, Federation takes a complete snapshot of the client’s current demographics (age, place of residence, income, employment status, etc.). This snapshot ensures accurate historical reporting even if the client’s situation changes in subsequent visits.

Reporting

Reporting is built-in and ready to use! Click here to view a sampling of built-in reports most commonly needed by foodshelves.

Service statistics. Print a list of selected clients, with a number of critical summary statistics

  • Assists. A count of each service delivery, showing duplicates for clients who were assisted more than once.
  • Clients: An unduplicated list of people directly provided with a service.
  • Households: An unduplicated count of households receiving services, even if multiple members received services.
  • Community: An unduplicated count of all household members in client households, indicating the extended impact of of services on the community.
  • Assist days: The total number of days that clients were served, taking into account assists that lasted more than one day.

Demographic analysis. A complete statistical analysis of your clients by age, gender, ethnicity, employment status, and more!

Custom Field Analysis. Statistical analysis of all custom fields that you have set up unique to your services. For example, your custom field named “pounds of food” will be summarized – for any date range -- to show the total, average, maximum, and minimum pounds provided.

Incredible flexibility is built in. Any report can be easily filtered to run for any date range, service cluster, demographic profile, or geographic focus. Imagine answering the following question in just seconds:

  • “Show the unduplicated client count and a breakout by age group for all foodshelf clients served in the past two quarters, who lived in either Harrisburg or Jamestown, and who were females under age 30 employed at least part time”.

But We’re More Than Just a Foodshelf...

Foodshelves are sometimes one part of a larger set of services offered by an agency with a wider social service mission. Basic needs providers might also offer:

  • Clothing
  • Furniture
  • Household supplies and medicine
  • Emergency rent assistance
  • Bus passes / tokens
  • Transportation and/or automobile repair

Federation is built to handle all of these service offerings, and track data uniquely for each kind of service. For example, you can set up Federation to track “pounds of food” for your foodshelf service, and “dollars provided” for emergency rent assistance. And these entry fields automatically appear on the universal intake sheet.

Is your focus broader still? No problem. Federation can meet the needs of highly complex social service organizations. Expand your Program and Client Management modules to services such as:

  • Counseling
  • Job Training and employment skills
  • Chemical dependency
  • Health care
  • Pregnancy care
  • Alternative education
  • Disabilities (mental illness, developmental, physical)
  • English as a Second Language
  • Personal advocacy
  • Immigration services

Or add more modules to manage other functions offered by social service agencies, including:

  • Fundraising
  • Volunteer Management
  • Event Management
  • Project Management
